Title: First crop, then resize or vice versa or order dependent?
Post by: thoste on October 04, 2022, 07:00:53 PM
Assume I want to re-encode (with AVC H.264) a video with the original resolution 2400 x 1080

Now I define a "resize" filter to 1680 x 756 and a Crop of 80 pixel columns on the right side

Does Avidemux apply at first the resize and then the crop filter?
Or first crop then resize filter?
Or does it depend on the order of the filters in Filter Manager?

This is important if I need to calculate the target resolution AFTER crop or independent from it

It depends on the order of the filters in the Filter Manager.
Most of the time it is better to crop first (results a cleaner "cut").
