I'm on a Mac OS X 10.7.3 System, using avidemux from homebrew v2.5.5 (r7908).

My music is tagged with MusicBranz Picard. Tagged with this application the mp3s won't load at all or is just silent. Stripping the mp3 with id3v2 and copying id3v1 to id3v2 works.

Here is a sample file that loads, but is silent: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/344000/avidemux_test_v1v2_original_nowork.mp3

I tried different settings  in Picard and found out the following, with the "clear existing tags" checked:

- ID3v1 settings doesn't matter
- ID3v2 2.4 or ID3v2 2.3 doesn't matter
- Loads mp3s with UTF-16, but are silent
- Doesn't load mp3s with UTF-8 or ISO-8859-1 setting at all

I've using LAME 64bits version 3.99.4 from homebrew repository installed.

Not sure if it's a Picard issue, but I'd rather not re-tag all my mp3s.

There is one field in it labeled:  Arrangeur with this content:
mix|Danton Supple|flugelhorn, saxophone and trumpet|Jamie Sefton|lead vocal|Amy Macdonald|electric guitar|Jolyon Dixon
This is causing issues. When this one is empty avidemux 2.6 accepts the .mp3. and still has ID3v1.1 and ID3v2.3.0
Could  have something to do with | symbol or its length?. The mp3 itself is fine.

You could batch process copies of your mp3's needed in avidemux eventually with Kid3 - ID3 Tagger <- click runs under Linux (KDE or only Qt), Windows and Mac OS X.

the modified mp3 can be found here: https://rapidshare.com/files/2190456063/avidemux_test_v1v2_original_modified.mp3
Just noticed a size difference of 0.3 MB between the two files. Is there cover art in it to? Could be another reason for the problem?

Tested in Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit with Avidemux v2.6.0 (r7934)
