under ubuntu 12.04 64-bit the 2 issues mentioned before are solved:
- slow playing
- player now remembers the audio position of loaded external audio track.

I've attempted to access the patch at http://avidemux.org/nightly/; but for some reason, the archive file is showing up as invalid.  I usually use TUGZip 3.5 for decompression; when that didn't work, I downloaded the most recent version of 7zip (64-bit version) and tried it, but to no avail.

Please retry
The binary from this morning seems ok

The problem's probably on my end; I've since had problems with other 7z files.  Could someone recommend a decompressor that works for them?

Something weird is going on, because that's exactly what I'm using.  For the life of me, I can't figure out why the same software applied to the same file works for you, but not for me.   :-\

You may try the 32bit version.

I found the problem; for some reason, Firefox was corrupting the file as it downloaded it.  I've upgraded Firefox, and am in the process of verifying that the problem is fixed.  In the  meantime, I've DLed the file using Chrome, and am in the process of testing it out.  Thanks for the advice and help.
