GUI lock up

I have a user on Fedora that reported that when pause and stop are pressed in sequence that the GUI is locking up.

Is this a known issue with the 2.6.0 release on linux?

no, on ubuntu not seen this behavior (11.10 & 12.04.1 both amd64)
Problem:
Fedora itself (version?)
CPU multithreading do use only real cores and not the HT ones (virtual), lower priority settings.
Video card issue: settings in avidemux, drivers, brand (Intel gpu, AMD, ...) nvidia works the best (Opengl/VDPAU)
Intel opengl is best not used for Video display, openGL can still be marked for support.
Preferred avidemux is QT version, GTK is best not used (inter OS compatibility/operatebility).
