Encoding finishes instantly with 161kb filesize (should be 195mb)

I just got 2.6 and I've been trying to encode some videos I ripped from a DVD using DVD Shrink then converted to avi with AutoGK. But when i try to save/encode the file, it finishes instantly and produces a tiny file (161kb instead of 195mb). I'm doing everything the same as i used to with 2.5 so I don't know what the problem would be. It seems to work with other avi files I have but not the ones I've ripped myself. Any ideas what is causing this or would it be best to continue using 2.5?
