Greetings,

I really enjoy using Avidemux! Yet, I am confused by there being no sound while I am clipping vids, is there meant to be or is it typical that the sound will only be heard in the final saved clip? If the sound is meant to be there while clipping, could someone advise me how to turn it on?

My second issue is just ridiculous, and I am almost certain it is not an Avidemux issue, but if someone else has had this problem and found a resolution I would welcome the advice! The issue is: yesterday I was able to create a few clips without any problem. What I usually do is create the clip in .avi format using Avidemux and then change the file extension to .wmv so I can play the file as a video wallpaper using Windows DreamScene. Later last evening, I created a couple new clips, but they will not open or play in DreamScene, and I can't seem to figure-out the reason why. If anyone can assist I would be so appreciative.

Thank you.

1) There is a video clip for download in this posting: demo trim/cut/edit video 2.6 branch way, it should play with sound in avidemux.
If you don't have sound check your preferences: Menu: Edit: [Audio]: Audio Device change to anything else but dummy.
Generally: when playing video in avidemux and no sound is heard, the saved video will be most likely soundless.
Check also you have selected the correct audio tracks: Menu: Audio: Select Audio Track.

2) check previously wmv that played correctly with DreamScene for used codecs (video & audio). If the source video has not the correct codecs, you need to re-encode the video and use matching codecs/settings.
Can i use other video formats than WMV (*.wmv) and MPEG (*.mpg) with Windows DreamSceneâ„¢ ?

Jan,
Thank you, so much for the very helpful response!
Sound is now working. One thing though the instruction you gave "Menu: Edit: [Audio]: Audio Device" isn't quite what I have on my menu. I appear to be missing an option for the "Audio Device".
As for the issue with not playing in DreamScene, I usually have no problem simply changing the .avi file to .wmv which after redoing a couple of the clips, worked again. But, I did notice in one of the clips that the sound doesn't match, and I am wondering if that has to do with the source? Usually, I use as the source a .VOB file, and create the clip from that but it appears I also used a .mpeg file, would this effect the sound?

Thank you, again!

Nothing much I can do. I don't have access to windows anymore.
Install MediaInfo, should help you spot differences between video playing with sound/no sound.
If changing settings in windows: you need to reboot to activate these settings in windows.
If problems persists you probably have issues with the installed video/audio codecs or with a recent driver update. You need more specialist help from a windows user.
