I have avidemux 64-bit on windows 10 pro. I always encode to mpeg4 avc x264 with settings for longest encode time and highest quality, aac audio, and mp4 container when I can not do copy option due to tight edits around keyframes. But I have recently seen the power of H265 and I believe it is the future. I want to know:

How do I encode with H265 in avidemux and what settings to get the most quality and longest encoding time with the least amount of size?
Is aac the best audio?
Is mp4 the best container?
Is avidemux the best video editor and encoder? So far, it seems to be.

Thank you.

1st check if your avidemux has x265 encoding.
Menu -> Help -> Plugins
|--- Plugins Info ---|
[Video Encoder]
Video encoder Plugins

HEVC (x265) <= should be present

In Video Output (left hand side of Avidemux GUI)
click on [Copy] and select [HEVC (x265) ]
In [Configure] you should find the user settings encoding x265
created a 1 minute video clip for testing and find your prefered settings, you should be able to store these [Save As]
