MPEG2 clip - video preview is all gray, all the way through

Note:  I am still using the avidemux x86 nightly build from 2016-11-24.

I have a short MPEG2/AC-3 .VOB clip that is a small portion of a larger .VOB file that I ripped from an older DVD.  When avidemux is given either this clip or the entire .VOB file from which it was sliced as an input file, then no matter where on the timeline I move the timeline cursor to, the video preview area shows up only as solid gray throughout (i.e. no picture).  Obviously, this creates problems with respect to editing/choping.

This test clip is about 16MB and about 16 seconds long.

Who would be the best person to give a copy of this clip to? And how exactly should I get it to whoever might be willing to take a look at it? Should I be sending it as an email attachment? (That would be easiest for me, as I no longer have a personal FTP server that I can put it on.)

P.S. I should say up front that this clip was derived from a .VOB file contained on a rather old DVD, and that I wouldn't be the least surprised if it turned out that the MPEG2 material on that DVD wasn't quite encoded perfectly.  Nontheless, several different players I've tried (smplayer, ffplay, VLC, and Kodi) seem to have no trouble at all playing the clip.

Sometimes it does help to 1st re-mux with mkvtoolnix gui (less then a minute work)

Some nightly are available 2016/12/03: http://www.avidemux.org/nightly/
