Features/functions removed in newer versions (2.6, 2.7)

v2.5 (old version) has useful features not found in later versions (v2.6 or v2.7):
1. You can edit (recolor, etc.) selected segments of video clip.
2. You can save a sequence of frames as JPEG images
3. You can reliably import, replicate and convert JPEG images to video.  (In newer versions this is quirky at best and totally unreliable.)

It is a shame that in some ways this excellent program is moving backwards.
Are there any plans to reinstate these (and possibly other) useful functions in a future iteration?
