Hello all!

If I use the NVENC H.264 Configuration, it is possible to choose between Controlled by Preset/
Constant Quality/Constant Bitrate and variable bitrate.

Now if I run Avidemux with several configurations, the outputfile has different quality, size and bitrate, which is logical.
But if I use different values of the Constant quality option, all output is the same.
I doesn´t matter if a value of 15, 20,22,25 is chosen. Any ideas?

Kind regards,

ngc

I'm definitely getting different filesizes when using different CQ values with the NVENC h.264 encoder with the HQ preset and the latest Win64 nightly build of ADM (2.7.7  15 FEB 2021)

16/02/2021  06:36 PM        35,656,408 Dancing_ADM_nvenc_cq20.mp4
16/02/2021  06:37 PM         5,501,406 Dancing_ADM_nvenc_cq30.mp4

Filesizes above are for a 10s 1080p50 camcorder except.

Dan.

Just to be sure, I've re-tested on Linux and can confirm that CQ rate control works fine, with output at 20 being more than twice the size of the output at 30 with my 720p sample. Please use a current build.

Rate control was severely broken in some encoders (esp. VP9) in 2.7.6. Regarding NVENC, this issue was aggravated by a misunderstanding of the meaning of some h264-nvenc options. This was all fixed a while ago.

I´ve downloaded the last nightly build and saw that many things have changed.
Yes I´ve run the 2.7.6 Version. Perhaps that was the reason.
I will look into it further...

Thanks both of you for your reply!

Kind regards,
