source:  LTS releases are supported for 5 years. Normal Ubuntu releases are only supported for 9 months.

* Information for ubuntu 12.04 desktop users: 1204 HWE EOL. Install 12.04.5 HWE (Trusty kernel/graphics)
** avidemux version numbering changed from DDMMYY to YYMMDD
*** 12.04.5 currently no x265 support, builds suspended.

If Ubuntu Software Manager reports you're installing a previous version of avidemux.
240914 version number is bigger the 141012
Search in software manager upper right search window for avidemux3*, un-install the found avidemux, up to 7 could be installed.
Reinstall the newly unpacked debs.
