Hi All,

I upgraded to the latest version today after explaining to my Mum how easy it was for her to convert videos and drop them straight into iTunes. However, the only feature I used (Auto > iPod) appears to have vanished in the latest version :(

How do I now convert avi files into something iTunes can cope with (MP4)?

Thanks

(PS, if this is the wrong forum or it's covered in a help file, please point me in the right direction before flaming me)

It's not implemented yet.

If your AVI is "MPEG-4 ASP (DivX)" or "MPEG-4 AVC (h.264)"encoded then you can use copy mode for video (load your video in Avidemux and press the "i" button to determine this):

Video Output: Copy
Audio Output: AAC
Output Format: MP4v2

If your AVI video track is encoded in another format than MPEG-4 AVC or ASP, then select:

Video Output: MPEG-4 AVC (x.264)
Audio Output: AAC
Output Format: MP4v2

2.6 forum would have been a more logical place...

Thanks a lot for a speedy reply!

At least I'm not going blind :)

QuoteAudio Output: AAC
Should that AAC(Faac) or AAC(lav)?

Noted.

These are two different encoders producing the same audio format. It shouldn't matter; select faac, the LibAV Encoder (lav) is more kind of experimental.
