Issues deinterlacing video

I'm having some issues setting up Avidemux to deinterlace my video.

I've cut the parts of the video I don't want out using the up and down keys, I apply a deinterlace filter, (yadif with bob, or dgbob), I set the muxer to mp4, the video codec to either of the mpeg4 AVC (x264) codecs, and it seems no matter what I set the audio codec to, avidemux freezes when I try to save the video.

This is odd, because just a few days ago, I (think) I did just this, and it came out fine! Maybe I used a different video codec, but it seems anything but copy (which doesn't deinterlace) causes a freeze.

It seems like with the same settings, on one video, it will work, on another of the same type, it won't.
