Is there away to build xvba included on systems not having amd video card? Trying to install AMD xvba drivers tries to desinstall vdpau.

mean

just copy amdxvba.h to /usr/include/amd, that's enough
The file is in the amxvba_sdk.tar.gz

It is very much work in progress at the moment

mean

no need to install the proprietary AMD driver or to desinstall vdpau
just copy the .h file

Sorry for late reply. Was just able now to recover booting my desktop on ubuntu 13.04. Upon installing fglrx-dev, this removed all other video drivers from ubuntu 13.04 with no functional desktop and only terminal left. So had to spend some time to get this working again. No sensible information found on net doing this. Solution was simple:
apt-get install nvidia-current
and selecting in software the correct driver for GT-520. Additional driver was moved in here in 13.04.

Currently I'm not able to locate amxvba_sdk.tar.gz for download? Can't get access to French site ~/gbeauchesne (Gwenole Beauchesne) where I believe to find this sdk? Reports off line for me.

Use apt-get in download mode only!

is this xvba what I think it is?

the much longed-for speed-up using gpu-calculation? :)
I wonder how much faster it'll be in the end, I can't await to test it :D

mean

Just decoding h264 using gpu

If as impressive with VDPAU: scrolling through video should be a real pleasure. Playback shouldn't assault the cpu anymore, playing 1080p/i HD  or even higher.
