Consistent Crash @ 4GB file size on NTFS when trying to save uncompressed file

FAT32 has a 4GB limit, but not NTFS.  (NTFS limit is like 16TB.)  Why does AVI 2.6.8 64-bit (md5 d41a33b5a5e6a5fc0d1c27449f289a9c) crash every time I try to save a file with an uncompressed size > 4GB?

I open an mp4, then select:
Video Output (FF)HuffyUv
Audio Output: PCM
Output Format: Avi Muxer

Save file as test1.avi

Thanks.  Now I am able to create a nice 10gb file.

Next step in the guide I'm working from - apply the reverse filter ... which has been removed from 2.6.  SIgh.

Guess I need to install 2.5 instead.

Jan Gruuthuse

both can exist alongside.
2.5.6 = single frame editing
2.6.8 = newer codecs x264, x265, HD content, ... time block editing

It appears I can't use 2.5 to reverse the 10gb file, though.  it gets broken up into pieces.  I guess OpenDML is not supported.

Looks like I have no choice but to use 2.5 to decompress one of the videos I have.  This one is:

Audio: (Windows Media Audio 2) WMA2
Video: (Windows Media Video 9) WMV3

when I try to save it in uncompressed form in 2.6 using OpenDML, the status window comes up but it hangs at 0%.  Little CPU is being used.  (I only let it sit for a few minutes, so I suppose it's possible it was doing work, but 2.5 decompressed just fine.)

You load the video in to avidemux 2.6.8?
It loads and creates an index?
It does play?
QuoteWhen I try to save it in uncompressed form in 2.6 using OpenDML
You are saving to .avi container?
What video and audio codec to?

Jan Gruuthuse

try this:
Video output: (FF)HuffYUV
Configure: HUFFYUV

Audio: PCM

Output Format: AVI Muxer
Configure: OPENDML

720p video, avc, duration 0:00:37.888 grows from 68.8 MB to 1.2 GB

Have you a 1 minute sample video WMV3/WMA2 that fails to do so?
