Program often crashes during edit using 2.6.911 [Vista 64 bit]

Avidemux 2.6.911 -using Vista 64bit.    Program crashes during simple edits [chopping selections out and saving only]. May complete edit-fine or crash with long error message and have to open file in another program [ArcSoft]. Any suggestion appreciated I have not adjusted any settings within menu that are available.
