Version

My current version is 2.6.7
When I went to check updates, I was offered 2.6.16 which seems to be the latest version, yet lower number.

Adding audio track

NOTE: I've just succeeded in achieving this. :)
I got the info from here: http://www.instantfundas.com/2012/10/how-to-replace-audio-track-of-video-file.html

The key info was to set the encode to AAC (LAV)
So I could load the actual soundtrack that was in wav format.

*************************
I created an audio track through Voicemeeter, and saved it as a wav.

It could be a BWF AIFF MP3 WAV
I chose WAV for no particular reason... I can choose something els in the future.

The original mp4 video was loaded into Avidemux, and the audio track removed.

The wav couldn't be added as a track, so I converted it to AAC using fr:ac and also convertfiles.com
In all cases of multiple efforts, the alert always showed, indicating Avidemux only works with AAC and mpegaudio.

From https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCw5_orwdhc

I learned that I could use another video.
I'd already added the new audio track using VSDC, but this involved recoding the video to mpg.
I figured that Avidemux would add the audio without recoding.

So I added the VSDC mpg video to the sound track options, and saved the file.

After multiple efforts and settings.... the audio is just a high pitched fast twitter.

How can I add a sound track alone?
Or
How can I add a sound track, if I have added it to a video as an intermediary operation?

Thanks :)

Menu Audio, add track, browse to the audio track and save video.

Thank you for that reply.
I'll upgrade tomorrow.

I'm still having problems with the audio track.
I thought that I'd cracked it using AAC (LAV).

The TTS prog I'm using offers a fast text to audio, and produces a wav, aac, mp3.
They all play fine in media player.

However the Avidemux alert states:

Cannot setup audio encoder make sure the stream is compatible with the encoder (channels, bitrate, format)

I've tried to config the encoder for mono and Hz... but always the same.

Here's the file info:

Format                      : Wave
File size                   : 22.0 MiB
Duration                    : 8 min 42 s

Okay all fixed.

I simply quit Avidemux and reloaded.
Everything went okay.
