cannot find demuxer for wav file

When I try to open a wav file with avidemux 2.7.3, it says it cannot find a demuxer for such file, then that it cannot open it, and that is it.

I never had such a problem with previous versions, up to 2.7.1

I have looked for similar problems in the forums, but they never seem to be solved.

What should I do? Reinstall? Go back to a previous version? How?

Avidemux doesn't support and has never supported loading non-video files with the single exception of VapourSynth scripts (.vpy) starting with 2.7.2 and VapourSynth installed.

However, some WAV audio files can be used as external audio tracks. This is likely the context of the confusion.

And I bet you still can as long as these files are 16 bit low endian.
