Green preview error

Whenever I import any video file, the preview will be a green screen with the audio the video had. I am using an older version of Avidemux (2.5.4). I need to use this specific version, so please don't suggest I update it.

I've tried mp4s, mkv, flv, etc. Everything has either been a green screen or didn't open at all.

There aren't too many other forum posts on this, and the ones that did exist were not helpful.

I've tried remuxing and demuxing files and nothing has worked.

I've downloaded version 2.5.6 and it does the same thing, although now it will sometimes just crash.

These are not old, but ancient versions, totally unsupported.
There is no justification to use such relics.
If i would have to bet, you want to datamosh, following some old tutorial. You can datamosh with new versions.

I could only find old tutorials for it earlier but have found a newer one, I didn't realize how old that version was to be honest lmao.
