Usung the "two pass"option with mpeg2 video files.

My operating system is Slackware 15.0, and I have been using Avidemux version 2.8.1, and I an in the process of trying to digitize all of my videotapes. The situation I have encountered is that when I go to convert the digitized files to mpeg2 format using "progressive" mode (with the "two pass" option), an error window pops up which says something to the effect that it's not compatible. How do I go about correcting that?
