Hi,

Is it possible to set the default output format basing on the file extension?

For example, if the file open is a.mp4, set MP4 Muxer as the default output, if the file is b.webm set default to WebM Muxer, etc.

No, this is not possible in Avidemux. Multiple muxers can exist for one and the same container format.
