AVIDEMUX 2.5.6 win 32 on win xp
DTS audio from video works
but DTS is not selectable as format of an external audio file
choosing mp3 as format causes no error-message while loading a .dts file
but no audio can be heared on playback
and trial to convert dts to ac3 results in the message
"[BuidChain] Encoder initialization failed
"not activated, make sure number of channels and bitrate are compatible with
"encoder!
Tested with dtspiano.vob too
with avidemux "Save Auditrack" extracted DTS audio does not work
as external audio track - same result

Legal issues?
QuoteDTS is a series of multichannel audio technologies owned by DTS, Inc.
QuoteFor PC playback, many software players support the decoding of DTS. The VideoLAN project has created a decoding module for DTS called libdca (formerly libdts), which is the first open source implementation of DTS.
source: DTS
QuoteProvisional Warning: DTS Inc. claims that use of libdca software, to decode DTS compressed sound data on a DVD could violate DTS's patent rights. If you are unsure about the legality of using and distributing this code in your country, in particular in the USA, please consult your lawyer before downloading it.
source: Videolan: libdca - a free DTS Coherent Acoustics decoder
This is only for decoding part, the encoding is even more clouded.

I don't know if there is a work around? You could try audacity: dump video on it. If you're lucky you find all tracks there and can export these. Never tried or done it for DTS.
extracting audio track: source video working, audio track problem?
