I'm having some difficulty getting my head around the libx264 settings, which seem to bear little resemblance to the settings I use with FFMPEG!

For most things, with FFMPEG, I use the -preset medium, which I find gives excellent quality with reasonable encoding speed. I'd like to use these same settings in Avidemux so that I can concatenate files and recode all in one, but I'm having trouble correlating the libx264 settings with those found in Avidemux. Some I can see - others I can't make out. And some that appear in the "custom" Avidemux settings page don't appear in my list of things!

Can someone do an idiots guide to getting the libx264 -preset medium settings into Avidemux?

The settings I want to use are:

coder=1
flags=+loop
cmp=+chroma
partitions=+parti8x8+parti4x4+partp8x8+partb8x8
me_method=hex
subq=7
me_range=16
g=250
keyint_min=25
sc_threshold=40
i_qfactor=0.71
b_strategy=1
qcomp=0.6
qmin=10
qmax=51
qdiff=4
bf=3
refs=3
directpred=1
trellis=1
flags2=+bpyramid+mixed_refs+wpred+dct8x8+fastpskip
wpredp=2

These do not seem to always correlate with what is in Avidemux (and vice versa)! Can someone point me in the right direction?
