I am new at this, not technically minded - but HAVE tried a lot of things before asking help on this forum

I'm trying to take video from my mobile phone (.3gp format) to make it uploadable to a website.

The video plays fine on, say, VLC media player, but it is 90 degrees rotated. So I need to rotate it. This I CAN get Avidemux to do. But every time the audio comes out choppy or just bleeps, or silence. ...

I have kept a systematic record of the combinations of video/audio and Format configurations I tried (on a spreadsheet)

I am on Ubuntu 11.10, OS type = 32bit, Processor  Intel CPU T1300 @ 1.66GHz

The Avidemux is a version I downloaded yesterday from Ubuntu Software Centre ... not sure what version. I cannot check because there is no menu bar at the top of the interface - cannot understand why - there's just the top bar with file name when files are opened, and below that the "Open", "save", Calculator" etc.

Any advice would be very welcome, thanks

If not: consider upgrading to 12.04 LTS, 11.10 becomes EOL very soon!
