I go to the Video Filter Manager, dbl click 'Crop'.  I need to change the aspect ratio from 1.78 to 1.66 (to 1).  I  change the 'Right:' value to 280.  A Green box crops the right side of the frame to exactly the right ratio that I want.  I click 'OK'.  Check the new cropping in the Preview window.  Looks perfect.  Click the 'next' button at bottom of Preview window.  Action moves perfectly.  Click 'OK'.  Close the Video Filter Manager.  Re-Name & Save the new clip.  And then, when I open it, the aspect ratio is back to 1.78 but the picture is blown-up so that the right side - AND - the bottom of frame is cut off.

What am I doing wrong?  I want to crop the 1.78 aspect ratio to 1.66.

Thanks.

Maybe the pixel aspect ratio is changed, so as to maintain the original display aspect ratio.
If its an xvid you could just change the pixel aspect ration to alter the display aspect (no recoding!).
It might stretch or squash the picture too much though depending on perception.

"Crop" is meant to cut the picture. You want the "resize" filter I guess.

I just tried the cropping filter to see what happens.
Aiming to change a 16:9 display aspect to a 4:3 display aspect by cropping.

1) maintaining even numbers of pixels and keeping them as multiples of 8.
2) maintaining the pixel aspect ratio the same as per original (ie "as input").

The result is a perfectly predictable 4:3 video showing only the kept pixels.

Maybe try again keeping 1) and 2) in mind?

Multiples of 8 it is.  Works perfectly.

Thanks so much.  Great program!!

Glad it worked out.
