Will there be any further updates to this version - eg update on the encoding engine etc.

Last significant modification to the source code for version 2.5.6 seems to be 6 years ago!

Use version 2.6 for the proper editing/transcoding media with AVC.
For older codecs, use either version, but 2.5.6 has more options and filters.
