This is probably windows specific.

Avidemux_jobs GUI  incorrectly displays latin nonASCII characters in jobnames and in progress status window.
Such characters are replaced by playing card characters of other funny symbols.

But OTOH File name items are displayed correctly, even if the same text is used.

I live in Central Europe in Czech Republic and we use in usually Code page Win-1250 or ISO-8852-2 or UTF8/16.
I am not sure what is Windows Vista internal character encoding for file names.

I use DTV recorder SmartDVB, that uses as a part of file name program title, that is in local language of user.
The file name contains either high codes of code page 1250, either equivalent in UTF8/16 - as I do not know Windows internals.

If I queue in ADM few recording to process, I usually overtake the file name and as a job name I use its cut version.
But it looks ugly with character issue, so I usually as job name type manually some abbreviation.

Has been previously told before: avoid using none US ascii characters, long path names, deep path's  (path depth/levels), ... these can/could cause issues.

I do not remember such advice, accepting it for now.  But I am not going to rewrite automatically generated nonAscii filenames.

It is rather surprisingly needed workaround, not solution.  I would expect it for DOS application....
