currently I'm on:
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS
Release: 14.04
Codename: trusty
Bit:            64
linux-image-3.13.0-46-generic

Is there an advantage for avidemux 2.6.8 to switch to the Hardware Enablement Stack?

QuoteAs a Long Term Support release, Ubuntu 14.04.2 includes an updated hardware enablement stack that includes the 3.16 Linux kernel and an updated version of the Xorg display server.
The 3.16 kernel, released back in August and included in Ubuntu 14.10, comes with a raft of features including new Kepler GPU support, many fixes to Btrfs, and ââ,¬â€œ for the gamers with PS4s ââ,¬â€œ support for DualShock 4 controllers.
The new hardware enablement stack will be installed by default if you install from 14.04.2 installation media, but if youââ,¬â,,¢re humming along nicely with the current versions of Xorg and the Linux kernel on 14.04 and 14.04.1, fear not ââ,¬â€œ the new stack is not installed by default and is completely opt-in.

Any specific error? I see x265 has broken us in trunk again, so I am currently writing a patch to support the new NUMA pools feature (which replaces the previous 'threads' option).

Edit: Patch is live. http://avidemux.org/smuf/index.php/topic,16368.0.html Unfortunately, numaPools is not yet stable. I tested the "*" option, and it causes avidemux to crash upon destruction of the X265 coder. For this reason, we are currently not using numaPools. This patch will resolve the build issues with X265 trunk.
