No internal parsing is done for AC3, so whatever junk data the stream contains, the demuxer will feed it as-is to the decoder. This is not viable with AAC which needs an envelope like ADTS or LATM atop the PES layer.

I really recommend to carry out the experiment with two different receivers recording the same broadcast within the area served by the same TV tower.

I'm using the Astrometa DVB-T2 tuner, 2018 revision:
Astrometa 2018 rev.

there is Sony demodulator chip, older versions had Panasonic..

I don't have another DVB-T2 tuner for now..
