Hi there. I've got this clip recorded with my sony dsc-t100 and want to remove segments of it. How should I set avidemux for direct copy of the video stream at least, or if possible both audio and video? Thanks.

What version of avidemux are you using 2.5.4, 2.5.5 or 2.5.6?
Video: Copy, audio: Copy: Format: MPEG-PS (A+V)
Mark segments you want to cut select cut only with cursor up/down not with left/right cursor. Frame needs to Be I frame! When section is marked press [Ctrl]
  • simultaneous, marked section should be cut. Then avidemux menu and save.

o770

Version 2.5.6. It gives the warning about audio not compliant with DVD even if VCD or SVCD is selected. I also tried many combinations of the following without success - avidemux closes before start processing:
video: Copy
audio: AC3 Aften, lav
bitrate: 64, 128kbps
mixer: stereo
resampling: 48kHz

The Wiki here has the correct video resolutions for DVD conversion. Could that be my issue?
Is there any other configuration that gets the video stream copied directly?
Thanks for your time!

See if solving the audio compliance helps? Read this and pay attention to 2nd posting: styrol remarks: source video working, audio track problem

I am on Windows 7 64-bit - sorry, I thought the other forum was for Windows causing the issue. Should I give Avidemux 32-bit a try? Could that make a difference?

This is really looking to be Avidemux malfunction.
I tried editing the clip and saved the audio track from Avidemux to MP3 and AC3 with several different parameters, sampling rates, bitrates and channel mix, then used the external file but the same happens. So the audio encoder works.
And I saved the video to MPEG Video as .m1v and neither VLC nor Mediainfo could read it. It seems somehow Avidemux can't handle this stream, althought the preview and playback are normal.
Are there any other settings or containers that I could try?

Jan Gruuthuse

Win; Mac , Linux: all on 2.5, so that is not a problem.

I've seen it, thanks. I haven't even tried to re-encode the video by the way, I'm not interested.
I'll see what 32-bit Avidemux can do for me.

Do you find it odd, maybe an issue that every frame is an intra-frame in this clip of mine?
Thanks for posting so far!

Edit. Same thing with Avidemux 32-bit. Now I'm positive the problem is the video stream. Any ideas?
I will upload a very short clip from my camera if you could check it out for me.

It is normal for videos that are meant for editing, or a captured from certain devices.
I am away between 15th of May - 15th of June. (yes, I am playing D3)

OK then. Here is a short clip like the other, I really appreciate if someone could check it out for me - get any segment removed and the video stream copied, if possible both video and audio. Thanks a lot!

Peedog?  That's funny.  What is his real name!?!
Here are the details of that video from MediInfo-0.7.53 gui in View -> Text mode.  It is VBR video, 30 fps.

Is not taking the video as it is not DVD compliant audio in 2.5.6 and video frame size for 2.6.

Is this the only output choice from your camera settings: PS container format?

I don't understand the first line, sorry. Could you please rephrase it?
Only video format on my cam.

MPEG-PS is supposed to be DVD compliant in avidemux: is following the standard for dvd video like:
Frame size and frame rate:
QuoteThe following formats are allowed for MPEG-1 video:
  • 352 Ãâ€" 288 pixels at 25 frame/s, progressive (Same as the VCD Standard)
  • 352 Ãâ€" 240 pixels at 29.97 frame/s, progressive (Same as the VCD Standard)
Audio data:
Quote
  • PCM: 48 kHz or 96 kHz sampling rate, 16 bit or 24 bit Linear PCM, 2 to 6 channels, up to 6,144 kbit/s. N.B. 16-bit
  • 48 kHz 8 channel PCM is allowed by the DVD-Video specification but is not well-supported by authoring applications or players.
  • AC-3: 48 kHz sampling rate, 1 to 5.1 (6) channels, up to 448 kbit/s
  • DTS: 48 kHz or 96 kHz sampling rate, 2 to 6.1 channels, Half Rate (768 kbit/s) or Full Rate (1,536 kbit/s)
  • MP2: 48 kHz sampling rate, 1 to 7.1 channels, up to 912 kbit/s

QuoteProgram streams are used on DVD-Video discs and HD DVD video discs, but with some restrictions and extensions.

You might try and upload a 5 seconds sample and provide a link to it. Perhaps a developer can take a look at it, so these video can be handled by avidemux?

Well your original problem has gotten confusing I guess.
You said you had an MPEG video with MP2 audio and you want to cut sections out of it.
You can't do that with an MPEG video unless you re-encode the video.  That is the nature of MPEGs.
You also have to re-encode the audio because it needs to be compliant.  Jan posted the specs.  Your 32kHz is not 48kHz.
Does this make any sense?
