Hello,
I bought a new iMac 27" model 2020 3.8 GHz i7 Intel 10, Radeon Pro 5500 8GB, 32GB.
I have been using Avidemux for many years with pleasure and thanks, now version 2.8.0.
I'm wondering what the best settings are for my new iMac:
- Default Postprocessing
- HW Accel
- CPU SIMD
- Threading

Thanks in advance

I would recommend updating to the latest 2.8.1 nightly available.

None / disabled.

Depends on the properties of the particular video you are editing. In doubt, enable decoding via VideoToolbox and disable it when it fails to decode a particular video.

Everything enabled.

Disabled when VideoToolbox is enabled, else automatic (# of threads is equal the # of CPU cores). Don't forget that you must restart Avidemux when toggling status of multi-threading.

Regarding post-processing, I forgot to mention that if you need to re-encode HDR source videos (which turns them into standard dynamic range ones), I would cautiously recommend RGB adaptive with clipping as default HDR tone mapping method. But in general, just try all of them and choose whatever looks best for given source video. HDR tone mapping is not available when a video is decoded using a hardware decoder.
