File details transfer problem

I utilize a bulk program consisting of a python file and bat file to select multiple vob files and convert them to mp4.  It works great BUT the mp4 files no longer have any file properties when details section is listed.  It's totally blank.  Original file had video and audio data in the details page.  How can I transfer this detail data into the converted file.  Thanks ahead for any responses.

VOB = MPEG-PS. Did you re-encode when muxing into a MP4? If you did, which codec did you use? Else I can imagine that VLC doesn't like MPEG-2 in MP4 (sort of a not well supported combination).
