Is there an option to rotate the video in preview mode so it is easier when editing?

Couldn't find this in the menu.

There is no such option yet.

I'd also try opening the same file in the latest nightly build if you're still seeing the issue. A few bugs get fixed there before the next stable release. If it behaves differently, that can help confirm whether it's already been addressed or if it's something specific to the file.
